Hi,

I'm updating my computer a bit and was thinking of buying a new graphics card.
Those two that are on the title are the choices that I'm currently thinking.
My budget is about 200€. Those are both a bit under 210€.

So which one do you think would be better choice?

6800GS has 512MB memory and is 256bit. The 7600 is 256MB and 128bit.
Does the 512mb memory and 256bit memory bandwith make that much differense? 7600 would have all the latest technology though.

I'm kind of leaning towards the 7600, but any comments would be appreaciated.

512MB does little for performance today, and imo opinion should only be considered when buying the best of the best (7900 and X1900). I don't know what the 7600GT is comparable to in performance but it does not offer much more over the 6800gs featurewise. The 6800gs has been considered a good choice at it's price range because it is able to overclock well as it is made with a smaller manufacturing process then other 6800 cards. Look at a couple of reviews see which performs better (6800gs 256mb and 7600gt 256mb), and don't bother with the extra ram.

you will get all the new features of the new gen card but it will be about the same as far as performance goes because it has higher clock speeds but a smaller bus.

Woah, I didnt even know they released a 512mb version of the 6800GS. Id go with the 7600 since its a newer gen card.

Thanks for the answers.
I went around the net and looked at few reviews and it seems that the 7600 GT is a bit faster than the 6800GS. Plus it has the new features and is about the same prize than 6800GS. So I decided to go with the 7600GT.

Now begins the hardest part... waiting for my new card to arrive :)
