Here's one for you people, I used to have my system set to run 117fsb by 9.0 clock multiple. 1053mhz total with my memory running at fsb (cheap memory). My sound card would sometimes click so I decided to set my fsb lower and up my multiple and test it. I'm now running at 105mhz fsb by 10 multiple for a total of 1050mhz with my memory set to fsb+pci (140mhz). My SETI times at the prior setting were about 7:40 (h:m) on the low side, if I did nothing with the machine and just let it crunch a full wu uninterrupted. Now, with lower fsb BUT higher memory settings, I've done two wu's in about 7:20 each, lower than any wu's I've done to date! Interesting no?

SETI not only crunches well with a high FSB, but with more bandwidth to memory as well. The larger and faster bandwidth to the memory the better times will go. That is why DDR memory rules when it comes to crunching.

The best results I got was running my CAS#3 at CAS#2, it took my WU time from around 6:30 to around 6:00. It's funny after fitting a new AGP card it won't run CAS#2 anymore:(
Hope to increase my times tomorrow, have new MoBo thats OCable coming along with some DDR. Looking forward to beating my best time of around 5:20.

A lot of times faster ram is better than faster FSB.
