problem running red faction help!?!?

i keep getting this error when trying to start red faction. I also cant play deus EX full screen, when i start deus ex, it goes into a small box on the left/top hand coner of the screen. i tryed to reinstall direct-x 8, and i still get the same error.. please help

I've had similiar problems when my video card drivers did'nt install correctly. I would lose Direct X. Which sounds like the problem your having. Try reinstalling or updating your vid card drivers. That may fix it. Other wise it could be an IRQ conflict. In which case you need to shuffle your PCI cards around a bit.

well ive updated my vid card back to 21.83.. but i only get that error with red faction.. maybe i should reinstall the game.. ill have to try that soon.. im too tired @330am :p

There are more ppl with the same problem, It seems to be a driver problem.

i went to that thread, and no one knows how to fix it..
i used to get that error after id play RF twice (open rf play, then exit, open and play then exit, then the 3rd time id open it up ((on the same boot)) id get that error)))

Played RF without any problems with DX8 and 12.14 drivers. Talking with a few people and they said 12.14 is still the most stable Detonator driver release.

whoooohooo i fixed it...
its a memory issue..
i messed around with every setting for the video/monitor..
heres a pic of what i did to fix it.. im not able to make it a jpg sry..
