Last week I re-installed my Windows 98 (4.10.1998,Traditional Chinese version),and it appeared that some things related to telnet may have problems. After running telnet.exe,I clicked two or three keys on the key pad on the right side of the keyboard (Num lock off) and came out an error message:
TELNET caused an invalid page fault in
module <€£ΈΤ> at 0000:4f444e49.

Only if I press the keys when disconnected, or I disconnect the site, the error message comes. That brought a great PROBLEM: most of my bbs program can't use now! They suffered the same problem......anybody help me......

I tried......but it didn't work...><"
Telnet.exe itself seems no problem...
And I've downloaded all possible updates for win98...
Or maybe it has confilct with other programs....or registry error?

type "msconfig" in "run" command...and disable everything in the start up menu if you have 98
and try to use the program to see if the error come up or not....if not, try to enable 2 or 3 program at 1 time and run the program and see if the error comes up
keep doing it that until you find which one causes the problem
this is the long process but you will know what causes the trouble

Very strange......
try to go to support.microsoft.com and search for telnet to see if anything comes up?
what do you mean by re-install 98 ?
you install 98 on top of old 98?
or do clean installation?

I've reached support center to search the solution....
that took time, and no use....><"
Re-install 98? Yes, just cover it on old one, because I want to reserve my installed programs(Re-install them takes great effort..)
Since that re-installation I got the problem of telnet....
