I feel stupid for asking this question, but i've never been too clear about this. Say I have a s939 AMD mobo that supports PC-3200, can I use say, PC-4400 or faster ram in this mobo but just run it at DDR-400 speed, thus gaining a bit of overclocking headroom? I think you should be able to in theory, but i've never attempted it before and I want to make it absolutely clear before I buy some RAM I can't use. Thanks for your help!

Thanks alot! I've got PC-3200 ram set to 266 right now with real low latencies, But I think it would be better to run some faster ram at regular latencies.

Red,

I agree, it's a valid question and one I was going to ask some time ago. As long as your MB will support the voltage the RAMs need there shouldn't be a problem.
