View Full Version : Anyone using Firefox 2.0a?
Just got it last night, my person review consist of small letters. Much faster, smaller memory use (haven't found a leak, yet), seems sleeker.

Cool, I'll have to try it out. I'm still on 1.5.
*Edit: Where did you find it? Their download site is still on 1.5 too.

Any exciting new features?
None that I can visually see. Look is just slightly different. I think 2.0 is going to be an overall performance upgrade than features.
I'll just wait until it gets marked stable in portage. :p

fyi 1.5 has an extension that you can use to clear the RAM Cache called Cache Status
I'll have to check out that cache status extension.
is the nightly tester extension able to get the extensions working in 2.0?
I think I will just wait for the beta version, which hopefully will come out soon.
edit: ok, I couldn't resist trying it out. Extensions are working ok w/ nightly tester. So far, so good.
Still waiting for them to upgrade the spell checker for the last version.
if you go to the tool menu than options, under the cache tab there is a button that lets you clear out the cache

You can also do similar in Firefox 1.5 by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+DEL and choosing cache or by selecting tools from the text menu andselecting clear private data
one thing I think I might have a problem with bon echo - the link that usually opens a new window is opening new tabs instead. I looked in the options menu and the open new window was already selected. But if I hold down the shift key, it'll open in a new window like normal. What other settings could be causing this? Could the cache status have anything to do with it?
edit: OK! I got it fixed. Went to tools > options > tabs tab. Even though it was already set on open new window, I switched it to open in tabs, clicked OK, then opened the optins box again and clicked open in new window, clicked OK, that worked.
fyi bon echo is super buggy. if you type an address in one tab it will open the page in the wrong tab. I've had a few other problems with it too.
