We'll know that when we start pushing them-

I think there was an article about this on the front page a couple days ago, so you may want to look for it. Anyway, I really think it's partially just what you want it for. I mean if you already have a pretty good system, I don't see why you need to upgrade. Unless you need the performance for something like gaming. If you were already planning on upgrading however I may wait for it. Though one thing to keep in mind is there is pretty much always some great thing coming out. (HyperThreading, 64bit, AM2) So eventually you are going to have to just settle with whats out and buy it. Anyway just my humble half asleep opinion.

From all the benchmarks i've seen so far, yes, it is.

i cant wait.....but i will....i would save money (if thats possible lol) to buy a much better comp when they come out, with like 4gb of ram.

I'd wait.
But this might be somewhat influenced by the fact I'm really broke, ATM.

It's always better to wait if you can. If you can put off buying your next system for 5 years then that's even better although probably not as much fun.

you are so so so asking in the wrong forum. Go ask in general or AMD and you will have different responses. I am not trying to say it's bad, but it's like going to microsoft and saying, is microsoft office 2006 worth the wait? LOL of course what do you think they are going to tell you?
*edit* also this guy above ain't smart from what i've seen he is basing chip vs chip on MHZ factor alone. If that was the case AMD would be out of business, because we all know mhz don't mean anything.
on a purely bang for buck scale, i think conroe is worth it

what toxic posted is useful for the model name/speed but i have no idea why he is saying that those chips are equal to each other.
boris... it is possible to run a cpu and not be a fanboy.

personally i think it will beat AM2... but then again it is coming out after they are. Then again we aren't 100% sure of what AM2 has so who's to say.

So intel has something to compare to A64 right now.. :)
Im not a fanboy... I can see when something looks good though.

You mean Yonah?
I would jump on the Intel bandwagon as soon as their motherboards dont all have Intel chipsets on them. I know that there are some few gems with third-party chipsets but they are hard to find.

Running a Intel chipset is an advantage of using a Intel CPU.. There are plenty of chipsets other then Intel, they generaly do not perform well though. I kinda doubt Yohan will be a big enough seller to attract too many motherboards to market (Im thinking maybe 4-5 and all use Intel chipsets, mostly 975)

The thing AMD has going for them is the price/performance ratio, if the Conroe is in fact cheap as what Taz said and it OC's well it will swoop a large AMD crowd over to the dark side (or the light side depending on how you look at it).
