the " C-MARCH2006CAT" only gave me 5% not 10%. item was around $100 ad it only deducted $5.

By the category that the seller posted it as... When you sell an item on ebay, you have to put it into a category to make it easier for people that used the custom search options.

Check your inboxes and ebay private messages, i even got a letter in the mail. Remember some of them don't take effect untill early or late april.

Correct - you have to have received the code from eBay for it to work.

And for what it's worth, I used the 10% off coupon on a Creative Zen Vision: M and got $25 off (it was $297 shipped before coupon).

There's also a mystery 10%-off paypal coupon floating around, supposedly valid between April 20th/March 15th: C-2Q2006MOVER , maximum $25 savings (other restrictions?)

find an "immediate payment" auction, go through the process, click "i will enter a gift code" or something like that, see if it works, if it does, you know it will work, if not, you can just cancel the transaction by not completing it.
