Ok so I was given two of the external Maxtor one touch cases awhile due to them "not working". (p.s. the jumper on the drive has to be set to CS to work)
Currently the drive is mounted in a cage that has rubber grommets to minimze sound transfer and is passively cooled. Either adding active cooling (I fear the drive will get overly hot and lose life) or gutted the one touch card and mounted it into a case to run internally? the out put on the converter is 12v DC @ 3.0a if I have learned correctly that means that there is 36w available (assuming it is in fact 12v@3a).
Anyone know of any mods that have been done to these?
How much power (watts etc) does a newer ATA drive(IDE) use at full load? (just picked up 2 Seagate 120GB from BB). I am figuring that I should be able to run a single 80mm fan along with the drive and not overtax the power output. I am just wondering how close to max I would be getting if I was to do that.
I know I cant run a CCFL or similar of this and that is fine, I dont plan on trying to power my system off this.
