Does anyone know the command to find out what FPS your running at?
Quake2 doesnt have that as does q3 but google search for the q2 crusher demo.Make a folder in baseq2 folder named (Demos)
and put the demo file in it.Start a single player game and in the console type as follows
disconnect = enter
timedemo 1 = enter
map crusher.dm2 = enter
this will run the demo as fast as it can then at the end will show you your fps,run it a few times by retyping map crusher.dm2 and when your done type as follows
timedemo 0 = enter
btw theres another fps demo called massive1 that does the same. With my system I get 100fps with the crusher and 158 with the massive1 demo.

hmmmm ya know there is something for showing fps
let me think here
cl_maxfps (then some number to cap the fps)
r_speeds 1
cl_showfps 1
once again i have not played quake 2 in over a year so those might now work.
cl_maxfps will show what you or the server has capped frame rate at.Q2 default is 90 fps ,most servers I play cap at 60 - 70 which is where I cap mine at.The other 2 commands show wpoly and epoly whatever that is.Like I said q2 does not have a command that shows realtime fps like q1 - q3 and ut.

Or if you just want to run a timedemo without having to download the Crusher Demo..
Drop the Cosole (~)
then
Timedemo 1 (enter)
map demo1.dm2 (enter)
or
Timedemo 1
map demo2.dm2
Turning off things like Polyblend and Dynamic lighting will improve performance also.
again in the console type.
gl_polyblend 0
gl_dynamic 0
