StarCraft GHOST Cancelled (Again)

Might be good that it'll get a next-gen finish but I was really looking forward to it this year. Now we have to wait again b**tards (pardon my french) I saw there video to it where the Terran's are walking towards the overmind. Only to get slaughtered by thousands of Zerg the quality of the movie was awsome why not make a movie like that.

well obviously, creating a game for xbox 1 or ps2 is absolutely pointless

sure, there are a few exception, and insane cheating in Diablo and Diablo 2.

But their track record is pretty damn good. And thats why people let blizzard pull this kind of stuff. They don't just roll junk games ever month *cough EA Cough*.

and i like the idea of this game being put on the PS3 or 360 or both. will make the game alot better.

Quality takes time. Simple as that. if you can't understand that, go pick up a couple EA games. and you will quickly learn the difference between quality, and instant short term cash.

No Blizzard has NEVER delayed a game this long in its entire history. Never has it delayed a game so much that it skips an entire 3 generations of video cards and an entire console lifecycle. This game was supposed to come out durring the Xbox and PS2 lifecyle, it has gotten delayed to the next gen systems now. There comes a point when you stop caring about a game and I am getting to that point, If its not almost ready don't announce it, its that simple. I'm almost ready to give up on this game.

You really can't fault a company for having high standards. If they don't want to put out a crappy product, I aplaud them for having the balls and integrity to cancel such a high profile game because they didn't think the quality was what it should be.

If they didn't you would get a crappy game and paying $50 for a crappy game is worse then having $50 in your pocket and no crappy game. Also, its not as if they are pressing coins. Sometimes devs try stuff that just doesn't work and you can see it in all the crappy titles that come out for consoles and the PC.

They are protecting their image and our wallets. Cheers to them. And cheers to WoW for making them insanely rich so they don't have to release a crappy product to stay profitable. Blizzard has gamers at the helm, not corporate accountants *cough*EA*cough* and it shows.

Not to pile on EA, most publishers and devs are run like businesses and would put out a crap product to minimize losses and you can't really blame them for that, but you can aplaude the rare few who are willing to sacrifice a chunk of cash for a quality product.


ps Ghost will look great on the 360.... or 720 :D

I figured this was coming. It was getting too late into the life of the current systems to be able to release it and have a lot of people buy it. Hopefully this won't end up being another Duke Nukem Forever.

I disagree, there are alot more xbox's out there than xbox 360's although I'm sure M$ is trying to get big titles to go next gen. I'm not surprised it's going next gen...I think they did kind of hint at that with all the delays in the first place. I've been looking forward to this game for along time, great concept but honestly I keep forgetting it's even still in the pipe with how often they delay it. It's not until it get's delayed that I remember it's around. I don't have a problem with polishing games it's better than rushing them, just so long as after all the delays it's worth it.

I thought the game was looking too 'cartoonish' and not very realistic anyways. It certainly was no comparison to Quake 4, HL2, etc, in terms of graphics. Maybe the new one will look good, even for a PC release too.

well i feel that the people that are extremly hurt about starcraft ghost not being realeased need to get some other hobbies. in the end its a video game.

When your a huge fan of StarCraft and Broodwar and after playing it & your well into the story and you don't know if there going to create a S2. Then they mention another title not like StarCraft strat wise but a FPS you can't wait to get back into the SC world again.

It maybe be a GAME as you call it but you can't tell me you'v never been in the same position. That's utter BS everyone can't wait for a sequel to a series everyone looks forward to another title to continue the story. It was announced 3 years ago GHOST I couldn't wait for it. I wouldn't care about the graphics if they where great and the PS2 or XBOX could provide then I'm more concerned about STORY.

Hoping it will create another loop so they could either make a Protoss, Zerg FPS or maybe Starcraft 2.

It's going to look stylized or "cartoonish" regardless of the platform it's released on or what graphics standard it's up to. That's just Blizzard's concept artists at work. Chris Metzen has always been big on creating game artwork to his standard. He tends toward goony, stylized characters, so I won't be surprised in the least bit if it comes out looking absolutely nothing like Q4 or HL2.

I remember waiting for the big announcement on Blizzard's webpage a long time ago for what their next game development was going to be. StarCraft:Ghost... for a console?!?!? I thought it was a terrible idea, and well, it turns out that it was. Although, if it wasn't for all the delays it probably would've turned out ok.

They've only cancelled GHOST to not appear on XBOX or PS2 as they want it to come to PS3 and 360. I'd love SC2 and too keep it to PC only they tried SC on the N64 and people didn't like it I never played it mind. Only the PC version which I still play today.

Oh well, I didn't think this game was going to be good anyway. Now I just have to wait longer to find out if I am right. Hopefully Blizzard will do something other than Warcraft after Burning Crusade releases. Starcraft and Diablo need new iterations. I'm not a fan aod sequals but in these cases I shall make the exception. I want another Diablo game before a SC one though. I like faustian stories.
