About 2months ago my 120GB ide (maxtor) blowed , so i ordered a 250Gb Western Digital Caviar sata2 and applied for rma

when i got back from school guess what, my 120gb is back, so i installed it as SLAVE, but it keep trying to boot that 120gb not my sata2 one, what shall i do?

I have the same problem when I reformat my system as my SATA drives are my boot drives... you have to disconnect the IDE drive completely, boot the system, enter BIOS and set SATA as the boot device... boot to the OS and let it load fully. Then, shut down, plug the IDE back in, boot up, enter bios and ensure that SATA is still the primary boot. Then it should work... might take a few tries though. Not sure why, but most motherboards automatically try to boot to IDE channels before SATA...
