Ok since everyone fusses over the oem Radeon 8500 that comes at 250mhz. I was wondering if this card can overclock better than the retail? The Radeon Le was a nice overclocker and was oem.
Please post your overclock speeds of the OEM Radeon 8500 if any of you bought this card.

I don't have one but I've seen many people say they can only get to 275 (if that). It doesn't appear to be a great overclocker.

That sux
I guess Ati realized the mistake of the Radeon Le
Since it was able to perform just about the same as the regular Radeon ddr
with a few tweaks anandtech was kind enough to reveal
:-)
Whelp on pricewatch the retail Radeon is looking around $225 I haven't checked the stats on it though to see if its running 275
so I guess the extra $40 or so is worth it.

i would suggest waiting until the geforce3 Ti600 comes out because 8500 costs will go down even lower, and yes it is worth the extra 40 bucks....

Be careful on the retail ATI if you go with it. There have been some deceiving ads out there. they say retail but what they mean is retail from them NOT ati.

hola newbie. you really are a newbie here so welcome to the forums! (i'm also assuming you really are a person, heh)

i agree, to me it would be worth the 40 bucks or so to get retail. but really in comparison it's gonna seriously scream compared to older cards anyhow. i think for someone like me goin from a vodoo5 to even the oem radeon would look like a nice upgrade!

true that, i remember when i got my geforce2pro and i ran 3dmark for the first time, then i looked at the rankings to see where my Rage Fury Pro stood....33%, i was blown away......

I agree, going from a Vodoo 5 to a Radeon will be a huge jump in perfromance. It was the same for me going from an Asus V6800 32 DDR deluxe to my Radeon 64 DDR vivo , I flat out love the ATI card.

There is also an 8800 Radeon that will or is being released now as well 300 clock/ 600 memory woooo hoooo!!!!!
