PCI-E 16x or 8x

I just picked up a 7900GT 256. In the Invidia program where it lists the driver version, Bios etc...it says PCI-E 8x

But my MOBO wich is a DFI infinity that has two PCI-E 16x.

SO is my my speed 8x on the card? Why doesn't it say 16X in the invidia Nveiw thing.

How would I get it to read 16X. I'm I holding back my card with this PCI-E 8x?

Probably because the two 16x PCIe slots are sharing the 16 PCIe Lanes. It is probably set for two 8x PCIe lanes. Does that board have the jumpers for SLI, like the Ultra-D? If it is set in one position, it is 2- 8x slots, the other position, 1- 16x & 1- 1x.

I didn't see any jumpers or a SLI switch. I look again when I get home.

I upgraded from Dual 6600Gt's 256 to the one 7900gt.

Mybe the slots are still setup for SLI? I don't know I'll look over it when I get home.


Any other suggestions are welcome.

yeah they probably still configured for SLI, wich means each PCI-e slot runs at 8x.
disable SLI mode in the BIOS or something.
