I've been having several problems with my xbox lately, but this one problem is the biggest I've had, and it's linux related. I can't get my system to display video anymore with component cables when I boot X-DSL, or any other linux distro for that matter. At first I thought it was just DSL but when I went to install Gentoox, and found that my monitor once again started saying can not display this mode, I realized it wasn't just DSL. I have no idea wha'ts going on, other software will boot on my xbox, just not linux. Does anyone have any idea what could be going on? This is quite annoying, and I can't see anything with the poor quality composite connection.

Thanks.

I want to explain the reason I'm posting a hybrid question of half xbox, and half Unix here. Then I want to explain why I posted this here instead of the gaming section

I tried posting this question on xbox-scene.com, but it has been three days and nobody has said anything. I'm losing any faith for that forum that I may have had every day. It isn't just this question either, I posted two other questions, and I'm just being ignored. Anyway, I know there are some people here that are running linux on xbox for several reasons, and I'm hoping that one of them could help me out.

I opted for linux OSes over gaming section because the gaming section just seams to be about games, and not the consoles, or the systems the games are ran on.

Which dashboard are you using? Does it have VGA output capabilities?

I'm using avalaunch, and X-DSL was installed with a program that I think is called unleash x, or something like that. It doesn't have VGA output capabilities that I know of, and I don't have a converter. I'm just using the component inputs that my dell monitor has.

The weird thing is that it used to work, and just stopped one day. I don't even know which day though, because there was a long period of time between the last time I used X-DSL, and just recently when I tried to use it again with component video. I don't know if this has anything to do with it or not, but I tried running X-DSL on a standard TV, and when I realized that I wasn't going to be able to read anything I tried using component cables, and that is when it started happening.
