I just picked up an Acer 1916W 19" Widescreen from Buy.com for only $240 with free shipping and since I got their credit card, they took off another $25. Base resolution is 1440x900. It came with no bad pixels (Dead Pixel Buddy test) and is supposed to be an 8ms panel. The actual measured panel size is about 17.25" wide and 10.2" high. I didn't see any ghosting just fooling around for a couple of hours. There's no DVI inputs, but I'm using it in my computer "lab" where it's hooked up to a KVM switch anyway. Looks almost as sharp as my NEC 19" DVI 1935NXM LCD I'm using downstairs. Dunno how helpful these photos are, but what the hell, everybody like pictures. ;) The first one gives some perspective as to the size of the beast, and the second provides a closer look at the panel itself.

Picture is kind of dark. Anyway though it seems like you got a great deal.

That's just the camera lighting. The screen is very bright and has excellent contrast. I took a new photo, but it doesn't do it justice either. But if you insist on judging it from a photo, there's nothing I can do about that.

And before anyone comments, the rounding is due to the camera's close up focus distortion. The screen is dead-on straight and true. The colors are very bright and even, and there isn't a single bad pixel on the entire screen.

Good screen. The Viewsonic VA1912wb uses the same panel but offers speakers (good for cubicle dwellers) and DVI. I believe the Proview equivalent of the Mag version of this monitor also offers DVI as well.

I just picked up that 1912wb yesterday for $377 after tax, minus friend's $50 employee's discount, minus $50 rebate. No dead pixles and i love it.

I was debating getting the widescreen as well, but ended up going with the AL1916Asd. The only thing that made me go with the Asd is that it's not widescreen and it has a DVI port as well as VGA. I couldn't find any reviews on it, but it's supposed to be 8ms as well. CS:Source and WOW just look too weird to me in widescreen format.

The display looks identical between the AL1916W and AL1916Asd, both have very clear, bright and crisp images. (Boss let me take both home to test them out before he GAVE me one. :D) I haven't noticed a hint of ghosting and it's a HUGE improvement from my old 1997 ViewSonic 17EA CRT monitor. LOL

It's nice to see that good LCD's aren't as expensive as they once were. And nice choice DaveB....I see great minds think alike.
