If I press the pause button while downloading, exit Firefox and shut down the computer and then turn on Firefox again, can I resume the download?
Try it :D
I dont think you can tho. I have tried just to pause and then resume it and that didnt even work for me.

I dont see why not. Firefox should be saving the file to a temp directory and then moves it when it is done or maybe it saves it to a temp file in the directory the file will be but either way i think it would be able to restart the download.
I can't pause and continue a download even when the computer is left on... It's more like a, "stop and leave a mess on your desktop" button.

Firefox is supposed to be able to resume, but it rarely works. It's pretty much a useless feature with ffox
if u just leave the paused download it will finish trust me. I even closed the download manager for ffox and it finished later without me knowing.

AFAIK it saves it as a .part file until it's finished, then changes the extension to what it should be(.exe, etc.)

It's never worked for me, but if you have had success with it more power to you.
Save yourself the trouble and find a programed design to do what you were asking about, it'll prolly be easier.
