Im just wondering is 80C kinda high for an idle temp on a 6800? The fan and all that is still workin and stuff but shouldnt it be lower...?

Yeah, that's pretty high for an idle temp. What are you using to measure these temps anyway? Try and reapply your thermal paste and maybe lap the heatsink.

omg 80c thats insane at first i thought 80c was ur load temp =/ my 6800gs with stock cooler idle at 38c and loaded at 70c now with my zalman im at 32c load at 45c.


unless u meant 80F for idle

That idle temp is far too high, The stock fan/heatsink on the xfx 68 series cards are pure garbage, A friend of mine got a 68nu and it idled out of the box at around 70°. We put a Zalman vf700cu on it and it dropped to 45° idle and it rarely hits 60° under load.
