I just made a new computer out of spare parts and i wanted to install windows 98 SE. so far so good. when i get to the installation screen and it starts preparing for the installation it gets to 100% but then it doesn't continue. i have left it over 10 minutes but nothing.
here r the system specs:

duron 750 @750
asus a7v133-c
256mb sdram (no name)
crappy diamond 3d acceleration card with 4mb ram (wow!)
western digital 20gb 5400rpm hdd
48x cd-rom drive

i didn't change anything in the bios, it's all default.
i hope someone can help me.
thanks

Well, I had a problem when installing Win95, and it would freeze just before it started to actually install. It tuns out I left on the BIOS boot sector protect on. The BIOS thought that Windows was a virus attempting to modify the boot sector, and I forgot to turn off the warning. See if there is anything in your BIOS mentioning the Boot Sector, or Virus Detect, or something like that. Make sure it's off before you install.

Of course, that was for Win95.... Dunno about Win98....

Clean anything off your Windows 98 cd and see if any changes will happen that happened to be and it seemed after cleaning my cd it would actually respond after it froze.

i'm so stupid!! i had set the fsb at 133 which is 1000 mhz and not 750. because of the crappy heatsink the temp rose when i attempted to enter the setup so it froze. i'm sorry, but thanks anyway for your replies.
