This thread is now ancient and we now know that the KT7A works fine with the AMD AthlonXP processor. Some people with Rev 1.0 reported that they could not access any FSB settings nehond 133MHz.

One last note was the reset to stabilty task which may be called for some users. This is simple, if the computer doesnt post to the bios, simply press reset and then everything will work fine after.

I am still trying to decipher the conflicting reports on this. Some posts suggest that if you have the older BIOS rev (I think I have 1.1) you can do this, some suggest you have to monkey with the L1 cache 'holes' by adding something conductive to them.

Please clarify. What XP would be reasonable to buy for the board as an upgrade, as I have a 1.33 mimally overclocked to 1.4??

Also, what kind of cooling does this need for safe overclocking, as sometimes the system locks when the CPU temp goes much south of 51C.

thanks in advance

i dunno what happened to the other post addy but i had to use my initiative to find it here: http://forum.oc-forums.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=45224

unfortunately it gives very little info into how i might get my XP1600 and KT7A-Raid v1.2 running together happily - i'll give the even older bios (4A) a try but to be honest i'm just about fed-up with the instability, absolutely no problems booting - just stability

LOL,,

this thread is almost two years old, I think we know the limitations of the KT7As now :)

The T-bred Bs are now getting success with Rev1.0~1.3.

the biggest problems that i have seen with the xp and the kt7a-r are as follaows.1 since the intro of the g4 cards a 300 watt psu is no longer enough.2 leaking or bulging capacitors.3 drivers, microsoft drivers are just as fast and more stable than any 4 in 1 i have tried. 4 over volting the xp.most run happily even oc'ed with lts default setting or less.
