OK, I just acquired an Iwill KA266-R, a 1.0 GHz AXIAR T-bird and 256MB of PC2100. Hopefully if all goes well, later tonight it will be installed in my watercooled rig and all will be hunky-dory.
Anybody here want to wish me luck? :)
Anthony
Good luck, my friend. Welcome to the AMD topics! :p
Fire that pup up, and get it rockin'!! Let us know how it does...:)

Good luck with that system. With reference to "Slipping over to the dark side...", Thelemac will be along with the chickens later. Just to guarantee success:p
Goodluck and let us know how it compares.

i have had good luck with my KA266-R I was able to get my T-Bird 1.4 to 1.533 at vcore of 1.75 stable. Its a stable board or it has been for me. If your installing windows 2K dont install the Iwill drivers for Raid the windows drivers preform a lot better.
Good luck!

I've got a couple of spares over here (chickens, that is) to sac for ya.
Now we just have to get Shadow рс over here. :D

ROTF.... THAT will take some doing...lol
The "Original diehard intel/Voodoo Fan"?!? Running an AMD?
(I think we'd have to give him a T-Bird and mobo for that to happen...lol)

Good luck Anthony.
Now if you guys can get Shadow to come over well I don't know but that would be something. Maybe the end:eek:

I have a feeling you won't be disappointed! Especially with the watercooling rig in place. Good luck with the setup. Welcome to the dark side!

I had to stall it for a day...family issues got in the way of the computer. (I really DO have a life). Looks like I get to do this on Saturday morning. My biggest fear is that I'll chip the core when securing the waterblock...then bye-bye AXIAR.
PS, I had to use the Pencil Trick to unlock the L1s. Dang those things are tiny!!! :)

Welcome to the DarkSide. Once you go AMD you never go back.

i think they refer to going over to the darkside (AMD) from the lightside (intel) and the sacrificing of chickens to the all-mighty computer gods.
 <--- yeah that's it :D

The art of chicken sacrifice...the *only* way to get a good overclock. :D
Maybe I just haven't had enough good food in a while...

I've gotten this 1 gig up to 1684 before. But then, that was with a REAL psu and no case or any extras...just bare system. It was fairly exciting though to run 3dMark200 on it....5050 with a Geforce 2 mx 200.

Well,
I had to kick the watercooler for the time being. Need to reconfigure the hose routing and reservoir. Figured now was a good time to do so.
The Glaciator is a REAL TIGHT fit on the KA266-R. It actually butts up against a cap next to DIMM1.
Set multiplier to 10, FSB to 133, and booted into setup at default voltage.
1.0 at 1333 and loading W2K again.

Arrgh!!!
BSOD!!!
Loaded the Winfox utility for the graphics card, rebooted, CRASH!!
Trying to repair the OS install now, but have to go to floppy, it will not even boot into safe mode or boot from the CD-ROM. Paging error on the ntoskrnl.
Ouch.
yeah something is very wrong if you are BSODing at default settings. Which bios are you using?

I've traced the problem to Leadtek's WinFox1.0 utility. Everything was hunky-dory on the reinstall untill I put that utility back on, then bsod's.
Doing third format-install right now... *SIGH*

She's working.
Iwill KA266-R
AMD Athlon 1000@1333 1.80 Vcore
Millenium Glaciator
Leadtek GF2MX400
256MB Mushkin PC2100
Maxtor 15GB HDD
Running 1280x1024x16 on Viewsonic 19"
Only 1775 3D Marks on 3DMK2001. DX8, but FSAA disabled.
About to load HL and see how it does.
I also wish you good luck.
I can tell you that there will be no problem. I was going to get the chicken blood and candles out for you, but Thelemac beat me to the "chicken" thing. I'll save them for Shadow рс.
Seriously, you'll be fine.
And welcome to the "Dark Side!"

I was getting the occassional spontaneous reboot, upped the Vcore to 1.80 and seems to have smoothed out.
Once in a while on reboot though the mobo indicates that the CPU has changed. Any ideas?
