its that time of year to upgrade for me.im looking at the epox kt266a mb with a 1600 xp.of coarse i'll be cranken her alittle bit. but im tring to keep costs down alittle so i was hopeing to get away with using my pal6035 on the xp.i was even thinking about throwing a 80mm fan on it with an adaptor.anyone know anyone who tried this combo?or if this should work?
also would the retail xp hs work on my p3 700?

dont know how much overclocking you are planning on doing, but i currently have my old PAL6035 on my 1800+ chip, with a mild overclock to 1626mhz... it runs a little warm (48C FULL load...), but thats with 1 cheapo case fan, and THATS it. if you have even horribly ventilation in your case, you will have better temps than me.

they retail xp hs should work for the p3-700 cuz I think it will fit but you should double check the make of the hs and then post that question cuz I heard they might be shipping different hsf with the xp retail chips.

exactly...

and i have a 500-watt PSU that heats up pretty darn good...

the PAL6035 isnt the best out there, but its definately good enough for a 1600.
