View Full Version : Finally! 1725!
Jeez Louise, it was a stubborn one! lol I've finally got the XP running at 150, and it seems stable. Gave me one heck of a fistfight, those last two MHz of FSB....:(
I've had it Folding for 45 minutes, with crusin the Forums and posting, etc... Looks good so far. :D
Time to change the "sig" again...lol

Awesome, Mr. B.....
You ever gonna try unlocking that sucker? Bet you'll get that chip to at least 1750-1775 if you had multiplier control. Maybe even a real 1800 MHz. :)

What you need, my friend, is a good chicken ritual to get you up to a nice 166MHz FSB. :)
Then you'll have some real power (like you don't now) :)

Sitting on my desk, in no particular order;
a) 10x magnification Jeweler's Loupe
b) tube of Super Glue
c) bottle of defogger grid paint.
d) full scotch tape dispenser
Thelemac....don't need a chicken here..lol I just need to work up the chutzpah to actually use items a - d above...:(
I was reading Ed's article on the front page today...well, the link he posted really....very interesting stuff. Interactive pic of the XP. Input the specs you want to run at, and it shows you what bridges you need to close (or cut) to achieve it.
One thing though....they show, to raise the vcore thru the chip, to close the one open bridge in L11 to go from 1.75v (default), to 1.85v. I thought the voltage was changed with the L7 bridges...(?) :confused:
Has anyone else seen the link on the front page? IS this how to up the vcore with the chip? Close that one bridge in L11?
I think 1.8GHz is possible, if I could get this chip to 1.95v. If I can get the chip to 1.85v this way (L11 bridge), the BIOS should let me bump that to 1.95v, right???

Nice OCing Mr B,wish we could all have bus speeds like that. :) . Any chance of some benchmarks on that CPU?

L7 bridges for voltage are on the Spitfire and the Thunderbird only (I am pretty sure). I think the bridges are different for the MP/XP/Morgan. It just so happens that the L1's are the same.

Not sure on the voltage manipulation on the K7T266. I don't think you'll be able to go past 1.85v. People who connected L7's on TBirds and Durons are only able to get 1.85 setting (1.9X actual voltage, usually). The one exception is the Epox 8K7A. I doubt you'll be able to go over a 1.85v setting without a voltmod.

Benchies? Shuuuurrrrrre!
Let's start with the basics..here's a WCPUID SS;
SiSoft Sandra, CPU Benchie;
Sandra CPU Multi Media benchie;
And a Sandra Memory benchie;
This is a bit low, IMHO, and I've got this set to CAS2 in the BIOS....gotta get one o' them 266a boards...lol

Man that thing SMOKES the pentium. I'd really like to see it against a 2.0. That's awesome! I know I don't have a lot of helpful info except support but Good Luck on the unlocking. Hope to see that thing reach a little higher.

That's frightening, apart from the memory you're benching nearly TWICE my poor 1000@1130. Reckon I'll keel over at the results if you unlock it.:eek:
Thanks guys! ;)
Here's one more...lol The obligitory 3D Mark 2000 score...lol
I haven't tried this out with the 2001 version yet, but I think it wouldn't matter much. That version is geared more to the GF3, than my GF2 MX400.... :(
I like this number in 2000 better...:p
LOL Those are good benchmarks espically the 3dmark one..
The part I'm psyched about...I've had this rock stable at 1702 since I got it...Every now and then, I've tried to bump the FSB from 148 to 150, with no luck. After about one solid week of Folding 24/7, it's finally taken it.
All of the benchies, with the exception of the 3D Mark, had Folding running in the background! I also ran a good dozen races in TestDrive 5 while Folding. No problems whatsoever....:D
Speaking of Folding, ]-[I]ROCKS[/B] for Folding!
rUfUnKy, there's been two members that I know of toast XP's since they came out...Trancebear had the first...can't remember who the 2nd guy was...:(
13oots2...I'll probably soil my knickers looking at the benchies after unlocking it !!! :p I've seen a couple elsewhere on the net...OMG! :eek:
When AMD says eXtreme Performance...they ain't kidding...lol
:)
**BTW...SickBoy...thanks for the input up above...missed that first time thru. I'm awaiting someone to write up something of a "how-to" for this board, like Doctor did for the others in his article on the front page....**

I'm a Seti member but how fast are WU in Folding?.. Heard they're really fast

I know I can't wait till I get my 1600+ folding but look here (http://forums.overclockers.ws/vb/showthread.php?threadid=45124). It looks like we've getting smoked by oc.au now. Too bad we didn't have a network of about 100 of your chips, just imagine the WU's!
EDIT:BTW Mr. B when I get the new chip watch out I'll be gaining on you quick. i MIGHT get a 900mhz duron on too but not too sure. If I do get it'll probably only for like a month but it'll help!

Not so sure because i've never done SETI but I've heard it takes about 1/2 day to a day more to finish one in SETI compared to folding.
Here are my scores on a Epox 8K7A, XP 1800+ @1705 11x155, GF3 so you can compare.

I know, I know...:(
And now this "Foad" guy is tearing up the charts, carrying a whole team on his back. 360 P/// rigs! Mother of God!
100 XP's? That would knock out some serious WU's!!!;)
I wonder if we e-mailed AMD directly, and asked really, really nice.....:D

I had a good idea. I could e-mail AMD and offer to not only test their new products for them but also wear their shirts and such around my high school and local college. Just think of the advertising they'd get and all they'd have to do is send me a couple dozen XP1800+'s. So what do you think? Will it work;)

Naaaah...cuz' I'd do it for only a dozen XP's...lol :p
Maybe we could get them to run the Folding client on all of their corporate rigs...lol Just make sure they put "32" in for the Team number!!! :D
Glad to hear that its still working well.
It was just sitting in my closet collecting dust :)

With the benchmarks I've seen in this thread, it ought to atleast contain a warning of sorts. Nice results too Placid.
Reckon the Seti Team needs a mention here:D

Mr.B, Placid's memory scores are killing you what are your timings and why not jump on the epox bandwagon since you got everything for free?

OK here's the rundown on your voltmod.
Pin 7 of your voltage controller IC (the chip labeled SC2422, I have no idea where it's located on your board, see pic) is the one you need to be worried about. The pot value is a 100k ohm, should be available at Radioshack. Solder the wiper of the pot (center pin) to a lead, with the other end on the Pin 7 of the SC2422. You can use Doctor's method of using a clip to clip it on the IC if the legs are big enough, (if you don't want to commit to it being permanent) or you can solder it. Then connect either of the other pins on the pot to a ground point. I used a motherboard screw mounting hole. Then reassemble your system, boot, and go into your bios. Go into the hardware monitor section in your BIOS where you can read your temps and voltages, and dial your voltage in where you want it. If you've got any more questions, you know where to reach me. Being the careful guy you are, I imagine you're probably not going to want to do this for a while, though.

I've been looking at the 8KHA+ for a while now...that and the AK31 v3.1. Waiting for the $$ to free up....:(
I've got the memory set to "2" in the BIOS...this MSI isn't the best thing in the world for memory.....

I pulled the cover off while you "researched" this...didn't see a chip by the number you mentioned the first time...I'll have a look for this chip number...
(I'll also cut/paste this to a Word file...so I'll have it handy...thanks!! ;) )

you guys say that a seti block takes like 12 hours.....it usually took that long on my 350 p2....on the computer i have pelow, it usually takes less than 4 hours, my fastest is 2 hours 45 minutes. and i dont overclock the cpu because i have a small PSU.....but once i get a new one of those, ill take the cpu to 1.5 or more depending on the temps.
btw, i got 4700 3d marks with 3dmark 2000. with the crappy voodoo 3 3500 @ 196/196mhz

With times like that, you might like to offer some tips in the Seti section. I would be interested in your memory timings, also what OS are you using?
Wow, I gotta try that L11 bridge thing. Along when I unlock the L1s anyway. It will be nice to get over 1.85vcore. Now to get a psu better than my 300w sparkle... :rolleyes:
