Honestly, I know that batches of returned Raptors aren't worth much, but god forbid 10 of them work. Sold for $100 a peice and you could make a bit of money back and keep a few for a sweet RAID array.
So why am I hesitant to drop $500 to win an auction? I can't risk that much money. If they're all broken, one would realy be up a creek without a paddle.
Maybe someone here would benefit from liquidation.com, but I've been watching the site for a bit of time now. Nothing there is worth my time other than the occasional Raptor lot. So tempting...

The current bid is $100.. So, they normaly bid up to $500 when there sold?
It would be nice for someone that has experince repairing HD's..
I wouldn't count on any of them working without at least a minor repair though..

The batches range somewhere between $500 - $1500 at the end. I assume that they are getting this high because they are just refurbished or returned for whatever reason.
I'm not too sure you can repair a HDD without a clean room.

external repairs could be done without a cleanroom (repairs to the PCB for example)
It very well could be the companies/people buying these have the means to repair broken HD's.. I wouldn't asume its because they are referbs.

What would you do with 32 copies of COD2? LAN party maybe, but I'm going to assume you would pass on the costs to the others there.
Captain, you did note that the drive were being sold for "Salvage".
Typically, these units are from HD repair outfits who don't have clean rooms, and make only simple PCB reparis to the controller, etc.
These drives were not able to be easily repaired, so after they get a bunch, they sell them at auction.
They may tempt you knowing you've got forum buds who will gently pull you back from the edge of wasting big buck$, maybe?
