folding problems

i left F@H running when i wen to class and it had just started a new "villin" protein...i came back and restored it from the taskbar and it wasn't doing anything. now it just says "searching for work" or "requesting work" or similar phrases. its been abot 2 hours now and nothing has happened since then. the display is showing the proteins, but my temps are low which tells me that nothing is going on...also the WU progress is at 0/0 and in the "working on" field it says nothing. any ideas? thanks in advance, now i'm off to play wolfenstein....

The servers were down for a little while earlier. try right clicking on the icon in the task bar and quit then restart. wait a minute then open fahlog.txt in the folding@home directory. That is where you can see what it is doing. Hope this helps. Fold on!!!

It sounds like it may be having trouble connecting to Stanford to get work.

Is there anything in the FAH log that shows what is going on? THe log is a text file in your Folding@Home folder.
We may need some other details such as what sort of connection you have, is it behind a firewall or running from a proxy. That sort of thing. Also is the core_65.exe running? You can check that by doing the Ctrl-Alt-Delete to see what is running or use a task manager.

They were down earlier today so they could be down again.

Yeah. It looks like a problem with the server since you're connecting just fine. It will either - work soon or -- redirect you to another server, but that may take several connection attempts.
I think the most I ever had to wait for work was 1 hour or 60 minutes ;) .

many hours later and it still won't work..i'm starting to get offended! :mad: the only thing i haven't tried is rebooting and i'm too lazy to do that now, i'm getting ready to watch a DVD. anyways...

It may not be a problem server. I have been able to send and receive work now for most of the evening. I found a couple of messages in the FAH Yahoo forum and posted them here. Not sure if they will have anything to do with the problems you are having.
