I tried a search to see if this has been asked/discussed already and I couldn't find anything of use.

I'm considering an upgrade from a 6800GT that runs well at 415/1100 to an XFX 7800GS that comes factory OC'd at 440/1300 (unless the stock ones will OC this high or higher too....). Basically, I'm wondering if you guys think it would be a good upgrade or not? By good upgrade I mean that I'm going to see a pretty decent boost in performance (say... 20-30% or higher) over my currenct card.
The plan was to upgrade to a 3700 San Diego, 7900GTX, and DFI ultra-SLI, but I decided I should wait for Vista. Well I want a graphics card that's going to hold me over until Vista as my 6800GT is getting a little long in the face (so to speak). Lastly, does anyone know if the 7800GS should be compatible with the NV Silencer 5?

A 7800GS may just give you that 20% you're looking for, but if it were me, I'd wait until the next system build. Not sure how CPU limited both you and I are on a 7800GS, or a 6800GT for that matter.

Check it out here http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards.php?card1=202&card2=382

You will have to adjust the core/mem settings.

Here is a quick and brief review of the 7800GS. It uses a 6800GT for comparison as well but as i said, it is pretty brief. Link. (http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/article.html?art=OTYxLCwsaGVudGh1c2lhc3Q=)
