Kinda cool how one can customize and edit it. Is there a walkthrough for this program somewhere? Something detailing the options? I downloaded it from a site that offerec some bios images, but little to information about the workings of the program. A clarification would be helpful, at least for me!:)
Does anyone know of a site with the information? Like how to save the BIOS so when I boot I see my custom signon message?

I think I have the same program-RVBEDIT.EXE? I couldn't get it to do anything, there didn't seem to be a "write" command anywhere. Besides, the only useful thing it could do is write new default clockspeeds. Not too useful.

I have tried linking to them on Geocities. That is where that one is linked to. I used to add images all the time, I guess time away from the forums is not a good thing.

Although I've never done it I've heard that it's just about impossible to post a pic linked to geocities. They just don't like us I guess:(

I know I dont like them... geo... how does that alt name of theirs go? ;) :D
Were can I get it & how does it work?
yup that's what I have too. it sounds like a neat thing to do, but it seems that there isn't really much need to flash your video card BIOS. Of course, I tried anyway, but couldn't get it to do anything. anybody else get it to work?

Will this allow me to O/C my MX w/o using a prog or does it work like WPCREDIT?
if it works, this program will let you change the default, bootup clock speeds on your card to whatever you want. If you can get it to work, that is!:D

well it works, but there is no "save" or "write" or "flash" button\command that actually does the rewriting of your BIOS...you can fiddle and change stuff, but you can't make it permanent.
Unless I'm just dumb and am missing something here?

Unless I'm just dumb and am missing something here? Now I understand how it works:o We need NVFLASH to flash the video card BIOS in DOS!!! The best idea is to O/C with powerstrip then when you find the most stable O/C at the hottest ambient temp then go ahead & flash the BIOS with the new core & memory settings. I just don't know how to hook up a BIOS savior to the VCard, I GOT IT!!!! We can't:eek:

You have to use a program called NVFLASH to actually flash the edited BIOS file. Or does the "save bios" button not work?
You can get it from the link Monster of Rock posted. Many other sites have it too.
Just be sure you have a back PCI video card to flash back to the old BIOS, if you accidentally (or intentionally) screw up the flashing of the AGP card.
the save bios button just saves a copy of the BIOS to your desktop or wherever. Not the right kind of save!:)
So as I get it know- we use this RVBEDIT.exe to change the settings, then save a local copy of the modded BIOS. Put that copy on a disk along with NVFLASH.exe, and use them together from a pure C:\ to flash the cards BIOS- same procedure as for flashing a systme BIOS. Am I correct?

Your guess is as good as mine:o I still think it's not safe & if I download a copy of NVFLASH I just might do it w/o thinking:eek:
Gee I thought that this thread was about others like myself who actually use RVBedit ? In my case it has proven helpful with a number of cards. For instance Inno3d has chosen not to give me freedom of choice and has instead chosen to disable AGP sidebanding and AGP fast-writes on my Video card(MX400 64Mb) citing instability problems.:D Well I like to test "stability problems" so either pick up a bios off the net of a generic card or load from memory and change the required tick boxes.( while your there might as well add your own startup text! Save the bios file . On a clean (io.sys, msdos.sys & command.com) boot floppy add nvflash.exe, dos4gw.exe(found where you downloaded nvflash.exe) and the bios file.Create a n autoexec.bat with nvf -f x.x written in it where x.x is th filename of your bios file. Reboot. Watch the prety lights flashing on the keyboard to confirm its working. It will reboot and you can see the custom startup message! Good also for updating from old(pre-june 2001) to new firmware.

I've been thinking of flashing to a newer BIOS version for my MX... Already flashed once, when I got it, to version 8... The newest MX bios I've seen is 18, lol. I'd really like to know what's changed, but I guess that's a lost cause when it comes to video card BIOSes... :(
