Guys, I was reading a little at the OC.au boards and it looks like they might be on to a problem with the scoring. This is not 100% or even tested remotely thoroughly but I thought I'd bring attention to it here to get input from the group.

Here (http://forums.overclockers.com.au/showthread.php?s=&threadid=24604) is the thread. And if you don't want to register at their forums to read it here is a breif rip:

it seems the people that use just the 1 id seem to be getting too much credit for what computers they have got.

Unless people are running f@h on more computers than they have said, i think something is wrong. Stromlo's output was too high but is better now and ropable's output seems too high for what he has listed. I don't know what norgs is running so i can't comment on his stats as yet.

what is your theory zzsstt?

And the reply:

Exactly that. I was running V1 with much the same output as Stromlo, then on V2 they were 5:1 to me.. I suspect that V2 doesn't cope with multiple machines with the same id.... and I wondered if Ropable may have done this too. I also suspect that the problem gets more acute the more machines share the userid....

If this is the case (and my own testing indicates that it is) it should be brought to the attention of Stanford before too many people start generating huge stats but with no actual "usefull work" being achieved. I think ******** may be dealing with this, however!

Anyone have thoughts ?

With the exception of Stanman and a few others, most of us are running on a few machines probably configured with separate IDs so that may explain why teams with one or two large producers seem to out-produce us ?? Interesting ??

I am NOT calling sour grapes here as to why we are not in first, but rather to see if anyone agrees with this theory and if it is true to alert Stanford to it. I wonder if all that work coming from one ID would be rejected from Stanford as duplicate ? Probably not if they are scoring it, but who knows ?

I have to admit that high school that OCAU has puts out ALOT of work for many of the machines being Cyrixs.

Also, I AM NOT ACCUSING ANYONE OF CHEATING OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT...Just looking for 'The Truth' :)

I have to admit that I thought exactly the same thing and saw that thread over in OCau. We could test this ourselves under a dummy name sharing the same ID to see if it is so. I agree with you - I do NOT think that the Doc was cheating.
It's also important to note that they have considerably more members on their folding team than us and could be beating us even without Stromlo so there may be nothing to it.

If there is a scoring problem, it was definitely not done on purpose by Doc or anyone else.

It just might explain why there are incredible stats from a few users that might be using the same ID like that.

I wonder if Stanman is using the same ID. Stanman ?

It also is worth mentioning that I do not know what kind of power Norgs has but he might be in a similar situation.

One thing is for certain, unless we are able to:

a) recruit A LOT of new members or

b) score AT LEAST 1 large folding farm, we are not long for a glimpse of the lead.

Keep working everyone...:D

It looks like norgs is single handedly beating us now. so far he has 434 wu's for the day.

I don't remember where I saw it but someone was offline for like a week and when he got back instead of starting where he left off he did just that and he said it boosted his stats like 500%. I am not mistaken on this so if what he said is true this might be the case with some of these major folders.
