I'm just curious how important it is to burn in a CPU, i assembled my CPU last night and have left it running since, however, i haven't done any extensive burning in....why is it important? and would it benefit me to do it?

I've read that prime95 was a good burning in program, as is sandra's CPU benchmarks...any suggestions?

It can help getting a higher FSB. You can also FOLD or seti. These also give you your load temp.

They both are good programs for burning in the chips. Burning is basically testing for stability on a o/c. It was originally done by sticking the comps in a hot room running full force. Now we know heat is bad so don't do it this way. Basically it says that if it lasts through the burn in, it'll last forever. Sometimes burning in a component can actually boost performance a little too.

i belive prime is a bit more sensitive to even the slightest instablity. but it doesnt desplay it very well you often have to read the results.txt
