Hanging on Restart [Archive] - Overclockers Forums

I've had this problem since I installed XP. Everything else is fine, Shutdown and Startup. When I reboot/restart from the program it seems like it's going thru the motions but the screen goes black, and it does not restart. Anyone have any ideas on how to try and fix this? :rolleyes:

Ok, wipe the hardrive clean and start over then? LOL!

If you don't have much files that you dont need to back up try the CLEAN install..

Really weird I think it could be a corrupt install.

Before you do a new install I would try two other things:

1) Do a Windows Update. I think this helped my situation a bit. I was getting a black screen when all users logged off. This still happens once in a while but not as often as when I first installed.

2) Do a roll back to the configuration that was present at the day of install using RESTORE. It can't hurt to try this if you are about to reinstall.
