I have broke the bank on this last upgrade fellas...$1250 for my 2x7900-gtx cards. I am stopping here and will try to remain here until Vista comes out. Why did I get the 7900-gtxs? Primarily due to the very nasty cold bugs I was havign with ym 2x7800-gtx cards. They were a pain in the backside for sure. I am told by those in the know that the 7900-gtx cards do not have the cold bug...I won't find out for sure until I get my pelt blocks back from ViperJohn. But so far I am loving these cards. :)

Completely stock everything yields me a 05 score of 13,545

OC'ed FX-60 to 3.3ghz (200fsb), mild "auto-detect" OC 671/852 gives a 05 score of 15,847

Same OC setup in 06 yields 10,283 points...as seen here. (http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=231146) (I am #1 on the OCF3DMark 06 score) well...until digits updates the listing... :p

These boxes are massive...the biggest I have seen for a vid card.

impressive. 625 US each seems a bit steep though. Are you going to do the volt mods yourself? You seem pretty handy with soldering judging solely by the fact you even attempted to put a pin back on a 939. I don't even want to imagine what you'll be capable with them pelted. Yeah, they are expensive and you hit it right ion th ehead. I looked for over a week to find some 7900-gtx cards. everytime I would see some on sale thru pricewatch or pricegrabber, I would follow th link to the site or call and they were sold out. I did have a pair of XFX 7900-gtx cards for $585 a pop...but they called me late that same day and said they were sold out and told me they had MSI or Asus....I stay away from MSI like the plauge...lots of bad experiences with them.

Yes, I am going to do my own volt-mods.... :) I need to find a good walk-through first though.

I wouldn't follow that guide. If its anything like the 7900GT it won't work. Actually it will work, but its only good for like .05 volts or something before you get a black screen. You need to change the VID table to get the volt mod to work right.

depends on what you do to be expensive. The top of the line comp you built 2 years or 3 years ago is still usable today. It's the constant upgrading to play at the highest best possible resolution that is expensive.

That's what i always say this is it. I bought 2 BFG 7800 gtx and a month later the 7900 gtxs came out...look at my sig..I'm sure I 'll do the same with the next round also!

Heh, yeah...I'm an extreme-ist in every facet of my life. If I pursue something I exploit it to the fullest extent. I've always been like that. I'm gonna try very hard to keep my upgrades to a minimum. Its really gotten rediculous, I cannot justify it anylonger...er, I mean, its been past justifing now for awhile...heh!

I might start my own website with a news feed and forum. That would be my next exploitation...donno yet...still thinking about it.
