Hi,
ATM i got 2x512 sticks of hynix D43 Kingston Value ram. It runs stable at 2.5,3,3,8 @ 200Mhz(ddr400). its rated at 3 cas.
anyway, i want to increase my fsb. Started fiddleing. It'll boot into windows at 240mhz, but it isn't perfectly stable. Its fine for 95% of things, except games. The intesive use of the ram reveals the error, causeing the computer to suddenly reboot. It annoys the hell out of me. So i backed the ram off, going down in mhz untill i found a stable speed. That speed turned out to be 200mhz......... :(
the test i used is prime95 useing 160kbs FFT size (max and min). I discovered that this perticular size will error during a prime test. (normall after 4-5hours) The test only takes 15mins each run and dies pritty quickly.
There is one other thing i should mention, the first ram i got for this pc was a PQI 2X512mb PC3200 set that refused to work at its stock speed. gave errors like no tomorrow. I put that ram in my brother pc and found it worked happily there, so i got his ram, which is this kingston stuff. could the mobo be the problem?
So why all the ranting? What should i do next? Any advise?
