soon i will have pc number two. ok it will be another month or so. is it possible to network them and send the wu's out from one of the computers. also im going to make the question a bit tougher because i'm probably going to run linux on the second computer.

i have in the past hooked up two windows computers so they could run off of a single dsl modem.

will the program proxy work for 56k modems

also say if i switch my main rig over to linux is there a similar program for linux to allow me to connect to the net on rig 2.

i would post this in networking but rig two is an old p2 300 that i'm going to just let fold proteins 24-7. so i also need to know if there are F@H issuses with this setup

thanks

You might be able to set up internet connection sharing, even if the second machine is a linux box.

But, check out this (http://forums.overclockers.ws/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=330801#post330801) post by robertm. I think it might be just what the doctor ordered.

Or you could just have the folder for folding on the one computer, and just use your network to run the program off the others cpu, but store on the hard drive. I do that here at the lab at the university. Doesn't work to bad, and I never have a deleted work unit.

Sir-Epix,

What name do you fold under? I jst checked our stats and didn't see a Sir-Epix there. As I'm sure you can see, we are in need or more machines for the cause and when you said the magic 'I do that here at the lab at the university' words, I thought I'd see if I could find you.

Are you on v2 on Team 32 ?

How many lab PCs do you have folding ?

Am I being nosey and pushy enough ? :p
