View Full Version : Recalling a service install
I've got the F@H no-nonsense service install, and it's running fine (or so it appears). I can tell it's running because I use the task manager to monitor it's CPU uptake. However, the console is running somewhere in the background: it's listed in the task manager, but not as an icon in the taskbar. Is there any way to call the console back up to the foreground so I can see what it says? Thanks.

I'm far from a expert, but i think you need a prog. like Fahmon or EMIII to monitor a text-only console install.

You can either view the log file in the FAH folder, or use a third party program like EMIII. There is not actual program to view though when you are using the service install. (Unless you run the client manually which defeats the purpose of the service install)
If you want to see the console, just stop the service and run the console.exe ... best to setup a shortcut so you can add the flags you want to the target string.
If you want to stop the console use ctrl-d.
If you want to switch it back to service mode just stop the console and restart the service.
I'm using the F@H log file tip to keep track of the console. I only need to find out how far the work unit is processed (if any) as it takes days to fold a work unit on my pathetic comp. It's working well. Hopefully will be up to my normal of 50-90 PPD soon.
just use fahmon ... it has an option to view the monitored clients log, as well as showing progress, points etc. A very simple and lightwight monitoring tool.
