Quick Q:

I'm torn between normal battery ones and computer chargable ones.

I've hear that the latter eventually run out or something, true??

You'll have to replace them after 500~1000 cycles. That's all.

And what exactly is a cycle exactly?

When you drain the battery and charge it once.

Oh right. Geez. 500-1000 doesn't seem too much. I think I'll just go with a normal battery one.

That should work out to three to five years. Slower chargers will help battery life (so don't buy any "15min quick chargers"). Keeping Li-Ion batteries charged will help battery life too (don't wait 'til they are empty before re-charging if you can help it).

no battery lasts forever, it's a trade-off, with ones that need battery you'll have to buy batteries and possibly a charger, these batteries will die be they rechargeable or not, the built in rechargeable battery will save you a lot of trouble and pocket space not to mention they usually have great battery life (of one cycle) but you'll have to be ready to give up that player or replace the battery somehow when that 500-1000 cycles are through

How long do you plan to get out of the MP3 player? Are you really wanting it to last 3+ years?

All the MP3 players we sell that take batteries are no larger than 1GB. For anything bigger it needs to have an internal battery. Also note that many service plans if offered do not cover internal batteries.

The good thing about normal batteries is that they are easily available, and if you have a rechargable one you might have a bit of trouble getting the battery charged depending on where you are. For example, if you are flying across the country and you batteries die, you can just swap them out if you have normal ones, if you have a rechargable battery, you'll have to figure out some way to charge it.

That might not effect you, but just in case, I pointed it out. :)
