The other day i put cable sleeve on my PSU and the next thing i know i'm 2 DVD drives and 260GB down and i'm left with a 400 year old 40GB maxtor is there any way of fixing my other drives?
I dont have any money atm so i can't buy anymore drives :bang head
Btw my old maxtor was pluged in when this happened and there was no smoke and the PSU is still going (I tested it on another computer and) i've also tested the drives on other computers and still no luck :(

What are they doing when you try to access them? Does the Drive Door open on the DVD drives? Does the HD spin?

Nothing happens with the DVD drives but I'm not sure about the hard drives...

Sounds like the logic boards may be shot. You can try to swap the circuit board on the HD to see if it will run well enough to get your data off. You will need an identical drive to do that.

Sounds like your 5v rail died. If the drives spin up and you can eject you CD/DVD drives, but nothing boots, its your power supply.
EDIT:
Try this. Shut down your computer, then uplug your power supply from the back. Wait about 2 to 3 minutes, then plug it back in, and power it up.
Sometimes when you short out a rail, the power supply shuts itself down from damaging other hardware.

All of your hardware is gone.
Start saving and buy new stuff.

Biggest possibility is you crossed some of the wires... That would do it to it. Or atleast from what I saw on my test P3 box I had.
