Hello, Im working on building a temperature controlled fan, and I have yet to find much information on the subject. Does anybody know of a good website where I can get more info?

So far all I have found is this article at virtual hideout
http://www.virtual-hideout.net/guides/temp_controlled_fan/index.shtml

If anybody knows of another website with info. please tell me.

well enermax makes some too. newegg has them, as well as sidewindercomputers.com...

Several fans are currently available with built in thermisters for controlling the fan speed according to temp. They usually only cost a couple bucks more than a regular fan of the same size and CFM.

yeah know if the fans thermosistor was next to the cpu die then it would work great but the ones i have seen just take ambient temps around the outside of the heatsink.

I wouldn't use temp. controlled fans as anything but case fans. Maybe a delta screamer with a temp probe attached to the core would do.

I've used a stack of 2 60x60x10mm fans on a Alpha PEP66T once. They did the job OK, but as soon as I pushed up the voltage they became quite useless. Tried them as one fan pushing air and the other sucking, but that gave even worse results. I replaced them with a Sunon 60mm hi-output fan, did much better work, naturally. I had to add another "normal" 60mm to the PEP, one fan didn't keep temps down enough.

Titan makes temp. controlled fans too, but I believe the Enermax ones are of higher quality.

Yeah, thats exactly what I want to do... build a thermal resistor of sorts for my DELTA black label fan... i want to hook the thermistor (temperature sensing device) right onto my heatsink and have it automatically adjust according to temp.
