lan question

i'm new to this networking thing so i have a question:
I already have 2 NICs (with rj45 connectors) in two pc's and I also have a black "crossover" cable. would this be ok to connect them without a hub?

Yep, just run the crossover from one PC to the other.

That'd be good untill you need to get online with em, then (if broadband) you'll want a Cable/DSL router. They arent cheap, bout 100 bucks, but you wont have to pay another cent for a second IP addy. Easy to setup too.
