This has already been posted, but I can't find the link.
I just wanted the dos command to switch from NTFS to Fat32.
Thanks.
I am confused by this post. I didn't think that you could switch a hard drive from NTFS to FAT32 without losing all of your data. Can you go back to FAT32??

You cannot convert back to FAT32 from NTFS under Windows. You need the latest version of Partition Magic.

Ahh, Ok. A friend asked about it. I knew you could go from fat32 to ntfs. I wasn't sure about reversing it though.
You can do it, but you lose everything on your hd save for Windows. Its easier and less hassle to format.
Why whould you wanna go back anyways? NTFS is faster and much more secure than FAT32
I have read that NTFS is slower than FAT32 under WinXP.

I think it was in the XP issue of PC Magazine. It might have been PC World.

There was a post a while back that showed NTFS to be faster, it had benchmarks as well, I'll try and find it

I think these people need a cranial-rectal-ectomy.
Well before making a statement like that you might want to read the article. It was well balanced and I didn't find anything wrong with it.
MS's own information says that NTFS works a bit slower in some cases when it is a FAT32 to NTFS converted system rather than one done in NTFS at the initial HD format. If it was a perfect file system this wouldn't be true.
Hey I just saw the location. A couple friends of mine who are now near 50 were from Grimsby. I can't remember if it was Dave and Bob Pease or if it was Gary Meagher and Mike Quinn. They were all hockey players on our college team. Really great guys!
