I have two hard drives. One that has been split into two partitions (Secondary storage drive). I want to delete that partition and create a new one. I know there is a formatting utility in Windows. Can anybody lead me to it?

Thanks!

Ok i have not used Windows in a while but go to "administrative tools" and then "disc management" and you should see all your partitions there.

Gear assuming you are using XP pro (dunno if home is the same)

start > control panel > administrative tools > computer management > storage >disk management (local)

I have a secondary disk that has two partitions. I'd like to make one large partition and format it. Can anyone lead me through this?

Thanks!

Same path as above to disk management.Right click partition, delete for both.Right click create partition, full space should be shown minus 8mb.format as you like.

1. Go to store
2. Buy Partion Magic :)

ok seriously
1. Go to bios and enable priority first boot from CD
2. insert windows cd
3. boot from it.........wait......then when it gets to the list of partions delete them, and reformat both of them. This will make one large one
4.Do a format for windows on it so its not raw anymore
5. Install windows on it if you want ( or dont and use it for DATA)

I've deleted both partitions. Now both volumes are gone. I can click on DISK1 which is the disk I'm formatting, but it has no option to format.

Here's what I'm talking about (It's a tad small):

I'm trying to format DISK 1

There we go! Now, do I create a Primary or Extended partition? What's the difference?

All you need is a primary since you only want a single partition.I have only used extended if I need more then four partitions as that is the limit for primaries per disk,

Another vote for partition magic, though my guess is that you've resolved your issues by now :)
