hey,

This is the first time I'm going to install an AMD processor and a heatsink using thermal grease.

So, I have these 2 questions:
1. Should I remove those 4 round pads from the surface of the CPU before installing the heatsink ? or those are there to stay there no matter what I do ?
2. my heatsink came with "Heatsink Silicone Compound"
I also ordered Antec's Silver Thermal Compound (from http://www.antec-inc.com.)
So, which one should I use ?

Here are my stats:
Heatsinks: 2 Dynatron DC1206BM-L/625 with Delta 38
From the site http://www.dynatron-corp.com
Noise:46.5dBA 6800 rpm
C/W 0.28 (guessing), but I think it's over 0.26.

CPU: Dual AMD Athlons MP 1600 (1.4Ghz)

Thanks !
Denny

Welcome to the forums DennisMV.

1. No do not remove the four pads they are supposed to help balance out the hs on you cpu core.

2. I would say use the Artic Silver thermal compound its very unlikely the stuff supplied with your hs will perform better.

By the way thats a sweet system your building there I'm jealous make sure to most some benchies!

thanks

Yeah, it's a pretty cool system.
As I heard there are not many motherboards for dual Athlons, so yeah, I got Tyan Tiger MP S2460.

I guess I better not overclock them then ....
But hey, it's still plenty enough speed for me :)
