I just got my new Swiftech MC462-BA and I have a small ? it has three wires on it but correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn.t it draw to much voltage or watts what ever it draws off the MoBo. So is it ok to just hook up the + and the - to the PSU and forget about the other wire.

No it has the 68C.F.M. Delta on it and it has bare wires you have to put on your own connectors. Well at least the one I bought did. You can get it with both but I wanted high output.

Yes, it's ok to wire just the + and the - wires. The third wire is just the tach wire to report the fan RPM. It is a bad idea to connect a high wattage fan like that to the motherboard header as you have already figured out.

hmm well if i get the rpm header wire, and connected it to a 3 pin connector then to the mobo, would that be a good idea, just to report the fan rpm's in the bios

my new mobo, sy-k7v dragon comes with a feature called FOC
fan off control, booting up if the Bios does not detect any rpm's from the cpu fan it shuts off, luckily that option can be turned off.

is it possible to hook up the + and - then hook up the tech wire to the fan header.

Yes the YS-tech 40cfm fan comes wired 2(black & red) to a 4 prong molex and the 3rd(yellow) to a 3 prong molex for the motherboard header for rpm monitoring.

The yellow wire hooks to the motherboard header on the right side of the 3 wire molex if you are looking at the fan connector from the side with the 2 protruding edges.

So can the Delta do that too.
