We're in the process of upgrading out databases from MS SQL 6.5 to 2k. We've noticed that 2K runs a hell of a lot slower than 6.5, did we setup something wrong? This is on all of our servers running the converted 6.5 databases. These servers all vary in speeds/ram, everything from a dual 1ghz with 1gig of ram to the lowly 400mhz with 256mb. They all suffer what seems to be the same hit in performance, about 1/2 the productivity they used to have.
Although I wouldn't be surprised if 2K was a lot slower than 6.5, but this just is uncalled for. We can't exactly afford to double all the hardware to make up for the lack of efficiency.
Any solutions, comments, or the "well no s@#& each M$ product gets slower with every release"??
I know that Linux runs faster/better than M$, but one of our products is built for MS SQL, so changing isn't an option.
