THE SECOND DAMN GEFORCE 3 IN A FEW WEEKS JUST DIED, AND THIS ONE A TI 500!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am not having much luck. The HSF just broke off during a C/S game. The thing locked, and blew out the side of the chip. Nice charred core.
NEXT TIME I GO RADEON!

Matrox Mystique x1(used for multimonitor)
ELSA Gladiac 920 x1
ELSA Gladiac 921 x1

Seriously what brand was it and was it a stock cooled or did you upgrade the GPU heatsink(If so how was it applied)

Since when do heatsinks just pop off? Come on, you were monkeying with it, and you messed it up.
And both you guys please edit your signatures down to 4 inches or 15 lines, whichever is smaller. Your sigs are far too long.

they do that when somethign is seriously wrong. either way, no need to start accusin him. its his loss if he modded, the card makers if they messed up. also, definetely go radeon ;-)

Another ATI debate... YOU started it, not me.
ATI will ALWAYS be second best, period. No arguments, no discussion, no more replies about this.
ATI has always had lesser cards. And if they do have better cards, it's not for very long.
Does it really matter that ATI costs less? Not to someone who can choose the card they want. If you dont want to spend the extra money on the best in the world, then go with ATI. If you want the best, go nVidia.
I have always, and will always be an nVidia fan. I will NEVER buy ATI, even if for no other reason then that ATI cards are ugly. (However, being asthetically unpleasent is not the only reason ATI is inferior)

yeah, you really cant blame nvidia for this one though, notice how both cards were elsas? also Phlubb, its no fun debating if you dont aloow a debate :(......oh well, i dont know about you, but 100$ is a lot, why would i pay a 100$ more for 10fps??? does it really matter no, how does someone really see a big difference between 230 and 240fps....i mean really cmon guys....any game that comes out in the next two years will be perfectly playable on a Ti500 or an 8500, heck i bet the Geforce2Ultras/Pros and RadeonDDrs will still be playing gams a year or two from now.....as long as i can get 60fps i am happy.......
I'd rather get a Radeon and have better real-world performance in gaming and DVD's and such, rather than having a GF3 TI500 and having huge benchmark numbers and nothing else.
I love my Radeon! ^_^

Perhaps Elsa has gotten cheap about their assembly tecniques. I know their cards are virtually identical to the nVidia reference model, with a rather modest cooling proposition. Visiontek and several other manufacturers are the same way. If you're going to mod a card, that doesn't matter (But that's beside the point)

I didn't allow a debate because there IS no debate. There isn't any argument, nVidia is king.
All I'm saying is nVidia is better, it always has been, and it always will be. ATI will always be second best, or worse (Who knows what companies will arise in the furure?). That's not to say ATI sucks, far from it. They make good cards, and they're all proprietary, ensuring the same quality from card to card, unlike nVidia who lets others build the cards, which has the benefit of keeping costs down, but the problem of manufacturers who don't take the time and care to create a quality card (Such as eVGA, PNY, Powercolor, etc).
If you've got the money, it's not an issue, you can afford nVidia. If you're tight on dough, then certainly ATI would be an acceptable alternative, but it will always be just that, an alternative to the best.

Now that's a fanboy for ya. What's the point of saying something like Nvidia is King if you're not going to listen to anyone else's point of view.

Stupid to say you're going Radeon because you killed your graphics card. It should be obvious that you've lost 3 graphics cards while most people are having no problems, so obviously you're doing something wrong. If the stock heatsink just fell off, then you have every right to return it, but it's likely that you either changed the heatsink or did something to it and forgot to secure it properly(or didn't know how).

ELSA is known for not using the best of materials on their card productions, just an inside tip for you. I would never carry any of their products in my store.

That's pretty damn hilarious you mention it like that. Didn't you read Tom's Hardware review about the Radeon's vs the GeForces? The Radeon 8500 dominated the 3DMark2001 benchmarks, while going out like a clown in the gaming (REAL-WORLD) benchmarks. The the only game the 8500 was faster in was Q3, but, note the ATI Q3 optimization, a quality tweak, to make it look WORSE. So you can go boo-hooing over drivers all you want, never was ATIs strong point anyways, and I doubt it ever will be.

The first one died because of a sorted PSU transformer that killed a whole computer, and no, I hadn't got around to modding the 921. I have got another on warranty, and have had no probs. Turns out the HSF was only held on by glue, the clips had not been attached in manufacture.
