I am going to patch the TCP max half open connections on win xp sp2. What is a good limited to set it too. Some people say 100 but others say higher. What is the limit before winxp crashes due to many half open connections? I am also behind a linksys wrt54g router, so that could help limit the connections as well since I don't know what its limit is also. Anyone have any idea what I can set it too?

depends on what your using it for.... id set it to 50, which is what i set it to.

50 is fine, but I believe your router will choke if too many are left half open, like when using torrents.

If you have anything other than a version 5, you could use a third party linux firmware for the router. Along with some scripts, it helps immensely.

I've had mine at 10,000 for ages with not a glitch. Now it is set to 2500. 50 is miserly

I have a version 2 router with Alchemy-V1.0 v3.37.6.8sv firmware. So with that, what is the best set half-open TCP I can set?
