We need to do some recruiting for the rest of our teams not just FAH and Boinc.

We have 17 of the required 34 teams at the vault and we are in the top 20. That is a testament to how strong our member base and processing power is.

I don't feel that we should rob Peter to pay Paul by recruiting from the 2 powerhouses that we have now, but instead build on the foundation that they have in place already.

I also feel that those of us that frequent this part of the forum and participate on these other teams are already spread too thin.

I will admit that pioneering these new teams is fun along with figuring out how to run these new projects, but we have gone from pioneers to bolstering reinforcements for the vault just so we can keep climbing that list.

Something needs to change, either we need to ignore the vault list or quite frankly we need help!!!

But then again this is just my opinion and what do I know.

We should absorb some of the smaller teams that will never have the chance to climb any further. Just a thought.

Or we could just recruit like mad, but it seems much easier said than done.

either that, or get some power put for a couple days in a couple projects...
sorta like a 'boost day', where everyone throws their home (or easily accessible) rigs for one project. like the FAH's and BIONICes do Seventeen or Bust for a day, and just blow the stats out of the water for that day (like climb 20 ranks) and then just rotate that maybe once a week, between the different projects.
6 days FAH (or whatever the main one is)
1 day Random otherDC

that still wouldnt fix the 'stealing from the powerhouse teams', but it would help the DC Vault...

Hopefully my new sig might draw in a few new members for some of our teams. :)

I LIKE that idea. Let's develop it a bit more. Once a week. How would we choose which Alt-DC project to do for that day? And instead of 'throw as many rigs as we can on it'... how about... 'donate 1 rig for a day to help our overall combined team stats'

Maybe go on down the list. (i'm looking at the DC-Vault website, atm) Perhaps, One week Dimes, next week M12, week after Red Library, last week 17 or Bust. That'll be one DC project for each week in a month, and let that rig run on that one project for the entire week. Just throwing an idea out there. :)

the only problem, is that people who are folding might give a little time to a different project, but probably not a dedicated rig to different projects...like 1 week at a time for a month.

we still need DIMEs borgs...we've gotta get more people on the team!

Yes, but so far the Netdimes team is the strongest of our "alternative" d/c teams. :)

And apparently somebody started a team for Seasonal Attribution Project and never registered it at the vault. I took care of it though, it'll hopefully be showing up soon.

Ups, I started Seasonal attribution project team back when DV Vault didnt support it. They added it to the list later but I forgot to register it. :bang head
Thanks for solving this Sno.lcn. :=)

06-29-06, 07:35 AM
Well with the addition of ufluids we took #14 back, but right now they're only 447 points behind us. Now we need to get our physical science scores up and we should have a pretty strong lead.

You're right, and we're doing damn well for the number of people we have doing these projects. I'll start another one this weekend when I can get another rig up.

I'm just curious...how many computers do you have, at your house? I see your name near the top of the rankings on almost all of the alt-dc projects, while I'm struggling to stay outta last place. :(

Between 15 and 20. I'm always taking stuff down/putting stuff up, it varies week to week. I also run several on each rig at times, and dimes on almost all of them.

BTW, have you checked the ubero stats lately? You're about to pass me.

Yes I have checked them, but I wasn't gonna say anything till it happened! :D I didn't wanna start a race and have you switch over 10 comps and leave me in the dust!

sno.lcn
06-29-06, 11:28 PM
LOL No one can sneak up on me! If anything gets switched over, it'll be to RC5-72/OGR-25, I'm getting killed in those.

06-29-06, 11:37 PM
man.. i'm down to 2 compies now... looks like maybe for good. However... i do have a Sempron 2200+ with 512mb of Ram just sitting here.... unused....

sno.lcn
06-29-06, 11:40 PM
Need me to send ya anything? I think I have some spare parts lying around here somewhere. Didn't you say you needed a psu(maybe in the F(OC)LD thread)?

TollhouseFrank
06-30-06, 12:00 AM
PSU? I've got it. But until we get our power bill payed down (we let it go 3 months without paying it... we didn't recieve a bill, and it slipped our minds)... until that, i can't hook the other 2 back up... can't jack up the bill much higher without the utillity company getting a bit ****y.

sno.lcn
06-30-06, 12:05 AM
Well at least you'll be back up soon then.:D

sno.lcn
06-30-06, 11:35 AM
Okay, every time I try to sign up for a new project lately I see we already have a team! So I notify the vault and join up. However, I have to admit I've started a couple of teams that should not yet be in the vault because I have temporarily abandoned them, such as MoneyBee and either muon or eon, I can't remember which one. I'll hopefully have another rig up tonight or in the morning though, so I'll be able to throw some points up.
I noticed in someone's sig(I don't remember who) he's running seti for our team but I think he's doing bbc climate change maybe without a team. If anyone sees who that is before I do, make sure and let him know we have a bbc team he could join.
/rambling.

*Edit: Found him, it's masakabassist. He's joining up, w00t!

Sorry about not letting you guys know...but I'm no longer active on the project so I didn't think it would provide many points.

I dropped the project because the tasks took sooooooo long! I might pick it back up when I get a second computer, this one has about all it can handle. :)

sno.lcn

There's a new project called Tanpaku or something like that and only 5 teams in the vault are doing it so far. I made us a team but boinc won't let me attach, something about the project is temporarily unavailable. I'll keep trying and once I get some points up I'll report to dc-vault. I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to fit it into my farm though, I'm out of compies. Guess I'll have to stick it on one of my servers.

The linky I originally posted was where dc-vault pointed me but when I dropped everything on the end past the .jp it worked fine.
Linke so: http://issofty17.is.noda.tus.ac.jp/
I figured I'll put up some points before I report it though, because every time I report a project with no points, he forgets to add it or something so I have to re-report and then it gets added.(damn I must be such a pain in the ass)

*Edit: Got some points up and reported. We're currently #97 out of around 120 teams.

*Edit: Now @ 64!

*Edit: Damn, now up to #56! I hope this makes it to the vault soon.

Account creation is disabled for Leiden Classical at the moment. Please try again later.

I got some bad news. We're down to #14. Team Russia added 9 new teams, giving them a boost of 82,000 points. We weren't the only victims, them russians jumped 17  spots!

They now have a hefty lead of 17,000, but if we maintain course we'll smack the hell out of them in a month or two.

Don't know if anyone's noticed, but ocUK is getting dangerously close to us again. I just got a buttload of hardware in the mail(Video cards and NICs) so I'll try and get up maybe 4 or so more rigs this week, but they're mostly around 500-600mhz. I have d2ol downloaded and ready to install and start a team as well. I'll have a 1.4ghz p4 up as soon as my crimms get here(I ordered them like an hour ago) and I'll have, I think, a 1.8ghz p4 as soon as it gets here from one of our Canadian friends.

*Edit: I just madea D2OL team and stuck it on a 533mhz p3. I'll report it to the vault once I get some points up.

*Edit: I have no clue how fast this project is supposed to go, but I still haven't put up any points since I started yesterday. Since we just dropped a spot in ufluids I'm going to go ahead and put it on that rig and wait to start d2ol back up until I get that p4 up.
