what does RPC stub mean? how can i fix this error?

Im trying to install red faction on my win98SE. after the installation wizard runs, the error message pops out. it reads: "Error Number: 0x80070725 Description: Incompatible version of the RPC stub.

Find the file OLEAUT32.DLL and replace it with a version newer or older than the version you have. You can find out which version you have by checking the Properties on it.

I included an attachment of the VB6 Runtime files for you to try. It includes that file and a few others that could possibly be your problem. Just run it then reboot.

Thanks you for the help. im glad i know a few DOS commands. i went into real DOS mode and moved the original file (couldn't move it in Windows), then i copied the one you sent me into the system folder and WALA!! It WORKED!!!!
my file read aug 2001, yours read 1998. i learned something to take along with me in my journeys.
