windows turn black when moved or out of focus

In the last few months I've been having a problem where some windows will turn completely black if they are moved or return from out-of-focus. If I mouse over various elements of the window, those elements will go back to normal, but usually I can't get everything back unless I minimize-maximize a couple times. I think it might be java enabled windows or something like that as it only does it to things such as Limewire, IDLE (the python GUI), some installation programs. I updated my java to see if that would fix it, and no dice, the problem even occured in the java installation window. Can anybody help me out?

I recently updated my video drivers as well and that did not fix it.

Check to make sure both antialiasing and anisotropic filtering are both set to "Application Controlled" in the Advanced Display Properties. There appears to be a bug in the nVidia display drivers which causes a conflict w/ the latest version of Sun's JAVA. If AA or AF is set to anything other than "Application Controlled" w/ JAVA installed, the same symptoms as you're experiencing will most likely occur.

I get the same problem with trillian myself, but luckily it seems to be the only application effected. and i have an ATi video card.

I have both AA and AF set to application controlled so thats not the issue. Any more suggestions? I emailed Sun about it, awaiting a reply.

Do you have any software similar to WindowBlinds or StyleXP installed, or are you possibly running a modified theme or visual style... and which OS are you running?
