hey guys,

I can't for the life of me remember the certain title of a recent FPS game. I have never played it or owned it, but I want to look it up. It came out maybe 2, maximum of 3 years ago. There were really barbaric, crazy weapons (some kind of bolt/arrow launching thing? and electric shock gun?, tons of monsters coming from spawn points. also part of the game involved catching monster's souls to build up a special power that slowed down time.

does anyone know what this game was?

thanks!

Painkiller is one of the best coded games I have ever played, the graphics are amazing for what little system requirements it will actually use.

yea remember when games were coded well? Now they are crap. And only coded for the best gpu. Painkiller looks great on many machines. Yea some better then others but still good on all. W/ ur rig from sig u will have loads of fun :p

Awsome game. And yeah it run great even on crappy machines.
I tested it with a radeon 9550 and a pentium 4 2.8ghz and it ran at max settings with x2 AA and 1024 res with 50+ fps.

I actually hadn't played it before but now I am tempted. I'll keep my eye out for a deal.

No. When was that? Couldn't have been in the 90s. Remember the Marathon uninstall problem?

definitely pick up painkiller when you can. i LOVE that stake gun... it's awesome launching a big ole stake into some poor demon's chest! collecting souls to become the demon is pretty nice too.
to give you an idea of the low hardware requirements are, i played it maxed out [except i don't remember if that was with or without aa and af] at 1280x1024 on my fx5500 and it looks pretty good. i couldn't give you an fps count, but it was smooth as far as i'm concerned.

yeah I loved painkiller. Awesome graphics and the physics made things fun. Putting a wooden stake thorugh a zombie and pinning them up against a wall never got boring!

Serious sam 2 is a BLAST to play also. For what it looks like, it was expertly coded as well. It runs butter smooth at max settings on both my system and my brothers with HDR and all that goodness enabled. HUGE draw distances, gazillions of enemies on the screen at once, etc. Just mindlesss, strategy-less blowing up everything that moves and doesn't move.

About the only problem I had with Serious Sam 2, was the guns seemed lack any punch to them. Besides that, it was great, and funny as hell!

Just go pick it up at CompUSSR, it's on the $9.99 jewel case only display now. I remember some good times with my 9600p on that game.
