Don't you hate when something goes terribly wrong?
Aside from the cool boxes and other peripherials, I dislike Apple internal hardware, but their OS is killer. So when it seems that I can finally have the Mac OS run on my nifty P4 set up, the vendors only offer Windows running on Macintell box.
Is there no justice in this world?

No not really. Not for Mac users...whichsucks. MacOSX is nice.

There are other solutions to this around...
If I owned a copy of os X, I could install it on a p4 machine with the tutorial I found and have saved to my hard drive at home. But "I" do not own one, so "I" can't try.

I thought it was illegal since you have to installed it on licensed hardware.

That is a point I had neither considered nor been aware of. If this is accurate, I would twice not be allowed to install it, I guess. I personally would never advocate anyone installing OSs that are not legit. I just wanted to point out that there are methods available to anyone with good google kung foo to be physically able to run MAC OSX on a i386 machine.
For me, it is much more simple to check out any version of MAC OSs. I work for a company that rents out PCs and MAC of all varieties. I have at home a nice powerbook G4 running 10.4. That and I was told by the big boss that I can take home any of out G5 powermacs w/ dual processors. I first need to move my workspace out to the barn because there is not room for more than the 4 PC towers and the two lap tops I have now in my wife and I's bedroom. She really is a saint.

Personally i know someone who has claimed to have run OSX natively on his PC. I have yet to see it myself, however i do trust him. So, i'd say it's possible. Most likely if you purchase the OS, and make no code modifications and it installs, i don't see how there would be any legal problems.
They prbly just don't want people to start installing it on hardware they don't support because of possible problems and lack of drivers, etc.

Well the issue is that the os isn't sold separately, only upgrades (as I'm told by my mac buddy). so the OSX license is to the machine, not the owner.

You CAN buy it seperatly.
Buy OSX (http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/6404000/wo/4U4equPlWKHj3c7IDjXIwe6VdEr/1.0.19.1.0.8.12.1.0.1.13.0)
The only thing i see on that page is a limit on the family pack to 5 apple based computers, but i see no mention of not being able to put it on a PC. however i'll admit i didn't go looking and trying to read the lisence agreement.

so stick a apple label on the side of your case ;)
LOL!
If it wern't for that line (and the fact that my box dosen't have SSE2), I'd probably go out and pick up a copy of OSX. Actually, since it's free (my school gives out free OSX copies, but dosen't even discount XP Pro :() I might as well pick it up anyway in case the liscence ever changes what with all the cross-breeding going on in the Apple world...
